Mr. Willie Walter Thomas, Jr. was called home to rest in God's loving arms on December 22, 2024. He was born in Macon, Georgia, on September 11, 1946, to Mr. Willie (Dorthy) Thomas, Sr. and Mrs. Alberta (Samuel) Ryles Colson of Macon, Georgia.
Willie enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, where he showcased exceptional dedication and service. It was during his time in the Army that he was introduced to the world of auto mechanics, sparking a lifelong passion for automobile repairs. After proudly serving his country, Willie returned to Macon, where he continued his commitment to repairing vehicles for his family and close friends.
Willie began his career with the Colonial Bakery Company in 1972, where he formed lasting friendships and became a key member of the team. He remained with the Bakery until his retirement in 1997. Following his time at the Bakery, Willie started a new chapter with Walmart, ultimately retiring for a second time. Known for his dedication, Willie's work ethic was unparalleled. His passion for lawn care grew from a hobby into a successful business that served communities across Macon for nearly twenty years.
From a young age, Willie placed his faith in Christ and became a member of St. John Baptist Church in Macon. He was a devoted servant in ministry, with many roles, but he took the greatest pride in serving as a deacon and caring for the church's landscape.
On August 18, 1981, Willie married Viola Bass Thomas. For 43 years, they remained united in matrimony.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Thomas and sisters, Elaine Colson and Dorthy Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Viola Thomas of Macon, GA; four children: Phagarain (Robert) King of Griffin, GA; Christopher (Rose) Bass, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; Tomika Thomas of Stockbridge, GA; and Dr. Karyn (Donald) Johnson of Macon, GA.
