Willie Oglesby Obituary

Willie Mae Oglesby was born on December 30, 1955 to the parents of Andrew Oglesby and Georgia Me Felton from Marshallville, Georgia. She was the 12th sibling out of 15 and was the twin of Willie Bee Oglesby. As a young woman, she moved to New York where she graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School.

Willie Mae moved to Macon, Georgia in her mid twenties where she made it her home.  She loved her three children, Ivan “Lamont”, Gregory “Poo” and Kindellyn “Boosie”.  “Peggy”, as she was affectionately called, worked at Ryan’s restaurant as a baker and a cook for twelve plus years.

Willie Mae was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.  She was known to make you laugh and tell you just how it is!  Peggy was a sweet hearted person and was very giving to whomever in need.  If you knew Peggy you knew she didn’t play the radio.  She will be truly missed.

Peggy had remarkable strength and she fought the hardest battle she ever fought until God called her home on Saturday, April 16, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her loving son, Ivan “Lamont”; aunt, Gracie Simpson; her brothers, Andrew, Jimmy, Lewis and Ernest; sisters, Mary, Marta, Pinkie, ”Betty”, Susie “Claretha”, Essie and Jessie.

She will be mourned by Lamont's children, Maikyle Oglesby, NyaKhia J’nai Oglesby, Ivan Oglesby, Jr.; her son, Gregory (Cheryl) Oglesby; her daughter, Kindellyn Smith (Ronmeshia, Skylar, and Khloe; brother, Willie Bee (Twin) Andrew Jimmy, Lewis, Ernest (Gabby); sister, Mary, Marta, Pinkie “Betty” Susie, Claretha Essie and Jessie, Mary Barlow, Rosatta “Rose” and Jannie; special nephew, Kenny Barlow; niece, Shoron Hartwell; close friends, Lisaa Sweets and Natoya Clark; a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
