Willie Andersen Collins was born January 10, 1940, to the union of Charlie and Alma Collins. He was one of eleven children.
Willie was educated in the Twiggs County school system. He moved to Clearwater, Florida where he retired from the Pinellas County Board of Education. He also served the community as a crossing guard for the Clearwater Police Department before returning to Georgia. He worked for the Jones County Board of Education, transportation department, until the time of his death.
Willie was a faithful believer who served as a Deacon at Griffin Gift Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, watching football and wrestling, grilling, and spending time with his family. He maintained a garden, did all his yard work, helped to rebuild his back porch, and took care of his pets.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Annie Collins; son, Nathaniel Redding; brothers, Charlie Collins, Jr. (Ricky) and John Collins; and his sisters, Doris Collins Swinton, Clara Hill, Lousie Page and Valeria Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely wife, Doris Collins; sons, Michael Collins (Tiffany), Brian Johnson, and Terrence Jenkins; daughters, Valerie Collins, Andrea Jenkins, Sabrina Watson, Tabitha Miller (Vanderbilt), Tasha Wright (Fernando), and Tiffany Carswell (Darius); his loving siblings, Elijah Collins (Karla), Eddie Collins (Lula), Rudolph Collins (Janet), Tommy Collins, Johnny Ray Sampson (Alexis), and Dayboe Sampson. Also, a host of grandchildren, family, and friends.
Willie will be dearly missed and remembered for his gentle spirit and infectious laugh. The family would like to thank the staff of Piedmont Coliseum Hospital for their excellent care.
