Willie Melvin Brown was born on May 3, 1946, to the late Robert Perry Brown and Corine Brown. He was one of eleven siblings. Willie shared a special bond with his brothers and sisters, and the lessons learned from growing up in such a large household shaped his generous spirit and deep sense of responsibility.
He received his early education in Eastman, Georgia, and graduated from Peabody High School, where he was known for his dedication and determination. Willie went on to have a fulfilling and successful career at Coliseum Hospital, where he worked diligently and earned the respect of his colleagues. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he did, and he eventually retired with pride and satisfaction in a job well done.
On May 30, 2025, Willie Melvin Brown departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by seven of his beloved siblings: Jerry Fordham, Ralph Brown, Forest “Pete” Brown, Mildred Fordham, Ophelia Hamilton, and Delia Fordham.
Willie leaves to celebrate his memory and legacy: his devoted wife, Sue Brown; his children, Tyrone Brown (Carla McAfee) and Shantae Brown (Thomica) DeShazier; five adored grandchildren; one precious great-grandson; and siblings, Lula P. Davis, Lorien B. Collins, Arthur Leon Brown, and Lewis Fordham. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Willie will be deeply missed, not only for his warm heart and loyal nature but also for the strong foundation he helped build for his family. His legacy of love, hard work, and unity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
