William Reid, Jr., affectionately known as Billy, was born on September 12, 1957, in Macon, Georgia, to William Reid, Sr. and Mary D. Jackson. He was educated in the Bibb County School System, attending Southwest High School and Bibb Tech, where he graduated in 1975.
Billy spent much of his life working hard and staying connected to the communities of Macon and Perry. He worked in public works and was also known for his landscaping skills, taking pride in keeping properties and public spaces looking their best.
Billy enjoyed being around people! He loved music, laughter, and good conversation! He was often the one bringing energy into the room with his infectious and unforgettable personality. Friends and family will remember his love for music: whenever an old school jam started playing, Billy just couldn’t keep still. He would immediately make any floor, his dance floor, flash a smile, and light the room up with his favorite saying, “What’s my name?” It was part of his personality that made him memorable to many throughout the years.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William Reid, Sr. and Mary D. Jackson; his sister, Bridget Loretta Simmons; and his brother, Paul Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Latricia (Santrell) Cosby and Jalecia Reid; four grandchildren, Deion Santrell Cosby, Nova Jade’ Cosby, Jordan Dontae Thomas, and Aubree Giselle Dean; three sisters, Rosemary Reid, Faye (John) Davison, and Alfreda (Juan) Davis; one brother, Joseph (Valerie) Reid; along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and friends.
