Valerie Denise Smith-Green was born October 9, 1969 to the late Willie Frank Smith and the late Margaret Ann Tucker-Smith
Valerie also known as “Val” was known for her affectionate singing voice and her loving & giving spirit to anyone she came in contact with. She had a heart of gold with a smile that would light up any room! Most of all the love for her family was something she held dear to her heart!
Valerie attended public schools in Colquitt County and graduated from Colquitt County High School in 1987. Valerie attended Albany State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work before furthering her education getting her master’s degree in Psychology at Everest University
As a child, Valerie was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church in Moultrie, GA. She later joined St.Paul AME Church in Macon, Georgia where she served on the audio visual ministry as well as the music ministry for several years. She was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church before returning back home in 2023 to St. Paul AME where she still served in the choir and ensemble.
Valerie departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2025. Valerie was preceded in death by her father and mother ; husband of thirty years, Solomon C. Green Jr ; her grandmother, Louise Bell Carter; one brother, Frankie Maurice Smith; and one godmother, Bernice Tumblin
Valerie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Shantravious Green-Jordan (Christopher); two adopted daughters, N’Dahlia Adams and Tykeshia James; one grandson, Cameron Jordan with also one soon to be grandson, Kashton Christopher Clay Jordan whom she was overly excited to meet; two granddaughters, Kayla James and Ny’Aria Jackson; one brother, Willie Frank Smith Jr. (Kisa) ; three sisters, Brenda Smith-Mobley (Freddie), Angela Smith-Mackey (Eddie) and Paula Smith; five god sisters, Turshandah Wilson Bentley (James), Portia Wilson Gude (Shawn) Netasha Wilson (Gee), Laketa Wilson, Betty Tumblin; one god brother, Bishop Corey McGee; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.
