Sylvester Hatcher was born on January 18, 1939, to the late Miss Paralee Hawthorne and Mr. A.C. Clark, both of Macon, Georgia. He peacefully passed away at his home in Macon, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Sylvester received his education through the Bibb County Public School System, where he built the foundation for a life marked by hard work, humility, and dedication.
Sylvester was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in everything he did. He began his career at Armstrong Ceiling Plant in Macon, Georgia, where he worked faithfully for many years until his retirement. His coworkers and supervisors admired his reliability, steady nature, and quiet strength. Sylvester took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand, earning the respect and friendship of all who knew him.
Outside of work, Sylvester found joy and peace in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for nature and spent much of his free time fishing and hunting—two hobbies that reflected his patience and love for the outdoors. Above all, Sylvester loved his family dearly. He cherished every moment spent with them and was a source of wisdom, comfort, and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Corine Wooten; his daughters, Tawanda Culler, Valerie Granville and Vanessa Granville; son, Tarn Hatcher.
Sylvester is survived by his sister, Malissa Graham; children, Reginald Schofield, Tonya Hatcher (Dayshae), Brett Hatcher, Venus Schofield, Alonzo Culler (Natasha) Lashonda Culler and Bernard Granville (Mary); 28 grandchildren and over 100 great grandchildren; two devoted nieces, Sherry Alston and Gale Chatman and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Sylvester Hatcher’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
