Today we gather to not only remember a remarkable man, but to celebrate a life that was lived fully and with a sense a humor that could brighten any room and warm any heart. Anywhere this individual went, within minutes you would find him laughing with a random person and brightening their day. Stanley Lee Simmons, Sr., affectionately known as "Raw Dog", passed away on the 2nd of March 2026, at the age of 65 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, Stanley was the son of Abraham Lincoln Simmons, Sr. and Addie Lee Rose Simmons. He was the brother of and preceded in death by Abraham "Abo" Lincoln Simmons, Jr., Samual Simmons, and Addie Theresa Simmons. He attended and graduated from Southwest High School and was a proud Boys and Girls Club Alumni. Shortly after, his life would change forever.
Stanley made the incredibly brave decision to join one of the worlds greatest forces, the United States Army, where he served as an Infantryman and Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Crewman whose primary role is to be the first to the fight to protect our great nation. He put his country and family first before himself. After the military, he continued to serve his nation in a civilian capacity where he would eventually retire from federal service at Robins Air Force Base.
Stanley found joy in being surrounded by his loving family, dancing, telling stories, and cooking incredible meals with an invite for all.
Stanley was a devoted father, brother, and husband. The life he built with his wife, Jackie was marked by unwavering loyalty, laughter, good food, and joy in sharing not only the big moments, but also the quiet and small moments. He could talk until the walls turned black and white, and everyone loved him for it.
This earned him an additional nickname among his peers, "Radio".
Though he is no longer with us in person, the spirit he brought into this world will remain with us in memories, stories, jokes, and the constant love he showed.
His life will always be worth celebrating. His presence will be deeply missed, his soul forever loved.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Jacquelyn Webb-Simmons; his children, Sergeant Stanley Simmons (Carlonda), Marcus Reid (Chakanis), and Antonio Simmons (Brittany). He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra Jordan (Vernon), Elaine Thomas, Iris Richardson, Gary Simmons (Hilda), Barry Simmons (Jennifer), and Ferico Simmons (Tenisha).
