Sonja "Bookie" Corker

Sonja Elaine Corker, affectionately known as "Bookie," was born on October 19, 1952, to the late Arthur Lamar @ and Thelma B. Cherry. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Sandy Cherry.

Sonja attended L.S. Williams Elementary School and Ballard-Hudson High School and was a graduate of Dudley Hughes Technical School. She dedicatoe many years et in healthcare at the Medical Center and Middle Georgia Hospital, where she served others with compassion and care.

On December 16, 2025, Sonja was called home to be with the Lord: She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and quiet strength, trusting in God's promises and finding peace in His word.
Sonja enjoyed crafting and was a talented crafter who loved making jewelry. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working all kinds of puzzles, and cherished meaningful conversations with friends. Her inquisitive nature and gentle spirit brought joy to those around her.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Lonnie Corker; her sons, Arthur L. Corker, Shawn A. Corker, and Gregory G. Corker; her three beloved grandchildren; and her siblings, Glenda K. Jones (Edman), Steve A. Cherry (Angela), Jeffery Cherry, and William L. Cherry (Yvonne).

Sonja Elaine Corker will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Though she has departed this earthly life, we rejoice in knowing she has entered eternal rest with her Savior.
