Sarah Sears Obituary

Mrs. Sarah Lee Mattox Sears was born February 13, 1958 to the loving parentage of Robert Mattox and the late Katherine Mitchell in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Sarah received her educational studies within Bibb County Public School System. She was reared in the admonition of Christ and began her walk with The Lord at an early age. She later united in fellowship with Smith Street Baptist Church under the esteemed pastorate of Reverend Willie Finney, Jr., and there she continued to nurture her spiritual growth.

She was employed in numerous capacities over the years, but most notable was her tenure at Applebee's of Macon and also The Macon Telegraph. Sarah was a fun-loving individual who embodied a loving and caring spirit for serving others and helping in whatever way she could. Sarah was united as one in The Lord for 45 years to Mr. Joe Sears, Sr., and their beautifully blended family was blessed with 13 children. Her heart and home belonged to his children just as much as her own.

To know her was to be loved by her and she did not meet strangers. She was dedicated and determined, and she instilled this within her children and grandchildren. Her family was her lifeline and her priority. Spending time with them and even traveling with them was her favorite pass times.

Among those welcoming her loving spirit into the assurance of eternal rest are the loved ones who preceded her; endearing mother, Katherine Mitchell; her siblings, Larry Mitchell, Brenda Jacobs, Betty Jean Collins, Dorothy Mattox, Willie Mitchell, Jr., and Gregory Mitchell; children born not from her womb but definitely born into her heart, Chiquita Sears, Tyrell Jordan, Brandon Jordan, Jeremy Haynes, and Terrell Haynes. In the stillness of the dawn, January 25, 2025, our beloved Sarah answered her Savior's call from labor to reward.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Joe Sears, Sr.; her loving children, Santonio (Katrina) Mattox, Jimmy (Dominique)Haynes, Jr., Cassandra (Orlando) Haynes-Whitehead, Bobby Haynes, Sr., Sarah Sears (Antonio Wilson), Joe (Chamyria) Sears, Jr., Tawanna Sears, Latrice Sears, Rodrick Sears, Joseph (Shewqunya) Sears; her caring siblings, Mary Mitchell, Katherine Mattox, Robert Mattox, and James Mitchell; thirty-nine precious grandchildren; twenty-two loving great-grandchildren; endearing bonus children, Jessica Haynes, Mike Haynes, Jimmy Terell Haynes, Wyketta Haynes, Cashanna Haynes, Takisha Haynes, Tremaine Haynes, Steven Haynes, and Brandon Haynes; and a host of other dear relatives and special friends whose lives have been forever changed by the presence of her warm smile and her loving heart.
