Samantha Louise Woodard, affectionately known as ‘Sam’ was born September 14, 1970, to the parentage of Rosalind W. Pope Jenkins and the late Eddie James Pope, Sr.
Samantha was educated in the Bibb County Public School System, where she began her formal education by attending Agnes Barden Elementary School and culminated her educational journey graduating in 1988 from Southwest High School, the home of the ‘Mighty Patriots’.
Samantha had a very extensive and successful work history that spanned over a period of more than 35 years. She was known as the ‘work mom’ always stepping up to the plate to do whatever it took to get the job done. She was very passionate about every task accepted, completing all responsibilities and activities with enthusiasm and excitement, which also included her volunteer projects, leadership roles in planning family reunions, and all types of family events.
Samantha affected the lives of many of her family members by sharing her love, devotion, and affection to everyone who it was possible for her to reach. She had a BEAUTIFUL smile and laughter that lit up whenever she came into the room. She took the time to telephone and texted as many as she could to do wellness checks, emotional, and physical encouragement. The baking and sharing of her homemade chocolate chunk and walnut brownies were always a hit at every event and were requested by all.
Samantha was preceded in death by her father, Eddie James Pope, Sr; her brother, Lawrence Bernard Woodard, Jr.; her grandfather, Charles Pope, Sr. (Lillian) and Wesley Woodard, Jr.; those who were named above and many others.
Samantha leaves to cherish her memories: her grandmother, Thelma Gray; mother, Rosalind Jenkins (Willie); brother, Eddie Pope, Jr., (Lisa); sister, Charoleta Hunter (Kenwin); two daughters, Shanbrea Woodard and Valencia Woodard; a son-in-love, Darius Mitchell, Sr; one granddaughter, Cynne Woodard; two grandsons, Darius Mitchell, Jr and Christopher Wheeler; devoted friend, (Ellis McCoy), and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Samantha’s unwavering love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
