Sabrina "Brina" Michelle Bates, 58, of Macon, Georgia, left this world on February 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after complications from a heart attack took her home to glory. Born on May 9, 1966, to Claude Durham and Helen Wilcox, Sabrina was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.
Sabrina was known for being very outspoken and a hard worker. To her friends, Sabrina was everyone's cheerleader. She had a hardy laugh that was contagious and always had hope in her heart for a brighter future for herself and the world. Even though she would “fuss” at you and give you attitude, in the end she would always come through.
After graduating from Southwest High School, Sabrina began working in retail sales and customer service. She later went on to study at Miller Motte Technical College, earning a CMA, CNA, and medical billing & coding certifications. For more than 20 years, Sabrina worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant providing patient care and comfort to the elderly and disabled. In her work, she touched the lives of countless people with her kindness, patience, and dedication.
Sabrina was employed at Alexander IV Senior Living Facility where she was not only respected for her professional abilities, but also cherished for her commitment to the job. They knew she could be counted on to be there when no one else would. She had a knack for developing relationships with patients under her care.
Sabrina is survived by her mother; her husband, Ethris Bates; her sisters, Myderia Talton and Euthressa Ring (Thomas); her niece and nephew, Gabrielle & Brandon; uncles, Billy Wilcox (Thelma) and Willie Williams (Juanita) and Melvin Williams; cousin, Carolyn Lowe; a large, loving extended family; and her close friends aka “partners in crime” from the neighborhood where she grew up.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph & Queen Wilcox.
