Russell Mitchell

Life's Synopsis

Russell "Papa" Mitchell was born on October 19, 1954, in Roberta, Crawford County, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Willie F. Mitchell and Martha Jane Tripp Mitchell.

He attended the schools of Crawford County, Georgia.

He was a hardworking provider who worked several jobs, which included positions at Atlanta Egg and Produce, GNC, Kellogg's, and several others.

In 1981, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he met Ms. Willie Mae Holliman. They joined as Husband and wife in 1988.

Russell's infectious smile, quietness, and playful demeanor always made an impactful presence. He was a kindhearted soul with an intense passion for shopping and fishing.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated "pea in a pod" wife, Willie H Mitchell; a daughter, Ms. Velicia Holliman; three grandchildren: RaShaunda (Stephan) John-Ashley, Maurice Couch (Ashley), and Tre'Vontne Ford (Randy); Two great-grandchildren: Brenae Steele and Amir Couch. One sister, Ms.Tabbie M. Pounds; two brothers: Willie Frank Mitchell (Mary), and Eddie Mitchell (Pamela); sister-in-law, Dorothy Mann, Mary Dunbar, Beverly Bivens (Gene) and Marvia Mithcell; two aunts:  Cleomia Solomon and Rosa Mae Tripp; nieces Sharika Williams, Kindra (Antwan, Sr.) Rutherford, Tamairo Mitchell; nephews: Anthony (Stephanie) Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Mickeno Mitchell, Cornal (Taylor) Pounds, Jr., and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Besides his parents, Russell was preceded in death by two brother, Hiawatha "Chicken" Mitchell and Gallet "Gal" Mitchell; two sisters, Deborah Ann Mitchell and Cenell Mitchell; five aunts: Gladys Harris, Mattie Mangham, Clara Stephens, Ada T. Allen and Doris T. Harris; one uncle Walter Tripp, four nieces: Carolyn West, Monya West, Tanya Jones, and Inike Johnson; a nephew Fletcher Mitchell; one brother-n-law, Wilbert Brooks; three sisters-in-law: Betty Mitchell, Beauty Mae Cummings, and Annie Ree Mitchell.
