Rosie Billings Obituary

Mrs. Rosie Lee Manuel Billings, affectionately known as “Tot” was born April 13, 1937 in Jones County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. John Henry Manuel, Sr. and the late Mrs. Essie D. Goddard Manuel.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mrs. Essie Mae Manuel Greene, Mrs. Willie Mae Manuel Finney, Mr. John Henry Manuel, Jr. and Mrs. Hazel Lee Manuel Simmons.

Rosie received her education from the Jones County Public School system.  She graduated from Maggie Califf High School.  During her childhood, she became a member of Damascus Baptist Church now known as New Damascus Baptist Church.  She is the fourth generation of the Manuel Family of a previous ancestor that rode a horse to Macon, Georgia in an effort to obtain a pastor for the church around 1867.  She has served faithfully in church ministries and programs.  Her longest commitment was to the Usher Board Ministry and she served for more than 60 years.  Rosie loved to travel on various occasions.  She was an excellent cook as she loved sweet homemade desserts.

Her previous healthcare was provided at Lynn Haven, Green Acres and Chaplinwood Nursing Homes.  She retired from the Central State Hospital as a Health Service Technician (HST).

She was known as Aunt Tot, Cousin Tot, Ms. Tot or Momma Tot who was a friendly person that loved to chat.  For some odd reason, she chose pinching as her form of discipline. (Hahaha)  Tot loved to shop especially at a good sale because she would buy clothes of various sizes just to give to someone in need. She also knew how to dance.  Tot, absolutely, loved to get her hair done every two weeks. She lived to be a caring and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, cousins and friend.

Aunt-cousin Tot loved all her nieces, nephews and cousins. She shared some great memories with them all.  In many ways our Tot took the role as a Godmother to all of her nieces and nephews.  She leaves Mrs. Katrina Faye Kitchens (F. Leon) Farrar, Mrs. Bettie Finney (Eddie) Lamar and Mr. Patrick (Denise) Finney.  She had a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
