Roberta Finney lived a vey full and joyous life, filled with never ending love for her children and her unyielding devotion to serving and praising GOD.
Born on September 6, 1940, in Gray Georgia to Mr Wyatt Finney and Mrs. Willie Kate (Simmons) Finney. Roberta’s life was grounded in faith, family, service and love.
Roberta raised six children and built a safe home filled with warmth, joy, tough love, honesty and a tenacious work ethic which she instilled in her children.
Her greatest accomplishment as she would often say was raising her children and keeping them all together thru the tough times. She enjoyed speaking about the many accomplishments her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren had in her lifetime and was proud of them all.
Roberta is best known for being an honest, straight talking, matter of fact woman who came from very meager beginnings in Gray Georgia and becoming a true pillar in her community. Ms. Roberta, as she was affectionately known, would offer a meal, cup of coffee, laugh-filled conversation or words of encouragement to all who entered her home. Her bright and infectious spirit will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr and Mrs. Wyatt Finney; sisters, Mandy (Finney) Smith , Doshia Pearl Finney, Fannie (Finney) Williams, Ma Mie Lee Finney, Lillie Mae (Finney) Phelps; brothers, Samuel Finney, James Finney and Fleming Finney and her beloved oldest son George Edward Hamm Jr. Roberta’s life was a true testament of determination, grit, family and faith; her
legacy lives on thru the generations that have grown from her roots.
Roberta is survived by her daughters; Carolyn Ann Finney, Jerrie Mae Hamm and Veronica Michelle (Hamm) Malik and sons; Eugene Hamm and Terry Bernard Hamm Sr.; sixteen grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
Ms. Roberta Finney, a true Generational Treasure “Never Goodbye, always see You Later”.
