Robert George Drake Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully transitioned from this life on March 17, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, dedication, and love that will forever be cherished.
Robert was a brilliant and determined man who valued education and personal growth from an early age. He attended grade school in Fort Valley, Georgia, where he later attended Hunt High School. He completed his high school education at Ballard-Hudson High School in Macon, Georgia.
He continued his educational journey by graduating from Albany State University, where he earned a degree in Middle Grades English and Social Studies. While attending Albany State University, he became a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (affectionately known as “Q Dawgs”), a brotherhood that reflected his commitment to service, scholarship, and perseverance.
During his time at Albany State University, Robert married his first wife, Althea Almon, and from this union they welcomed two children, Stephanie and Robert III.
Following graduation, Robert pursued a career in education, taking his passion for learning into the classroom where he inspired and guided many students. His journey led him to Athens. Georgia where he began his teaching career. Years later, he relocated to Macon, Georgia, where he continued his professional path and eventually transitioned to working with the City of Macon, faithfully serving until his retirement.
Robert later married his devoted wife, Janna Drake. Through this union, he embraced and loved five additional children as his own, building a blended family grounded in love, respect, and unity. He was deeply loved and cared for by his family until his passing.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clara Mae Drake and Robert Drake Sr.; a devoted auntie who helped raise him Grace Whitney; his son, George Nicholas Brooks; and his grandsons, Christopher, Micah, and Jadarius.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Janna Drake; his only brother, Charles (Sonja) Drake; his sons, Robert George Drake III, William Jackson, and Marion Jackson; his daughters, Stephanie Morrison (Kenneth) Ruby Brooks, and Regina Forrest; two devoted cousins/ sisters, Linda Sue Whitby and Janice Lloyd.
He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren, Makhynzie, Madison, Zaire, Cassidy, Justin, Kennon, Janna, Erin, Eyasia, Arianna, Adrianna, Amaya, Amija, Shamaya, and Angel, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as the Almon family,
Robert will be remembered for his intelligence, his passion for education, his dedication to his community, and most importantly, his unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
