Rev. Willie Denmark, Sr. Obituary

Rev. Willie James Denmark, Sr. was born March 3, 1949, to the late Rev. Dan Denmark and Mrs. Annie Davis Denmark. Born to strong Christian parents, where the word of God was always at the forefront of conversation, led him to accept the Lord as his personal savior. He joined Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church at an early age and continued a personal relationship withthe lord throughout his life. Rev. Denmark departed this earthly life on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Gussie Mae Denmark and Sally Ann Denmark, and brothers Freddie Denmark, Daniel Denmark, and Jesse Denmark, all of Macon, Georgia.

He received his formative education in the public school system of Macon, GA.  After graduating from Ballard Hudson Sr. High School, he entered the workforce in the city. He was employed by several different businesses before establishing a lifelong career as a residential and commercial painter.

On September 22, 2024, Rev. Denmark celebrated seven years as Pastor of Greater Ross Street Baptist Church. He loved the church and the congregation. Often reminding listeners that we are part of something far greater than ourselves, that we place our trust in a power greater than man. He defined family by love, not only by birthright. He loved his fellow man, and he loved his Lord.

Although he held the title of Reverend, he was affectionately known as “Willie” and “Willie James,” and he could always make you laugh. He was
a mentor and a friend. He enjoyed sports and always had an encouraging word.

In 2000, he married Corliss Morris Denmark. In addition to Corliss, he leaves cherished memories: two sons, Willie James Denmark, Jr. (Lakeisha) and Brandon Ganders, and a daughter, Karen Corbin (Randy) of Macon, GA. Sisters: Christine Finnell, Mary Ann Poole, Margaret Denmark, and Peggy Denmark, all of Macon, GA; Tammy Jones (Willie) of Bettendorf, Iowa; brothers: Johnny B. Denmark, William Paul Denmark, Larry Denmark and Brian Denmark, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended relatives, friends, and neighbors.
