Mr. Robert McClain "Mac" was born on April 2, 1956 to the parentage of the late Robert Lee Jones of Atlanta, GA and Dora Mae McClain Howard in Macon, GA. He was educated in the Bibb County School system where he proudly played football at Minnie Butler Elementary School. At Southwest High School he met his high school sweetheart Ida Raines whom he married in 1975 and to this union three children were born. Robert went on to pursue a career as a Firefighter for the City of Macon, where he was promoted to Captain and served the community he loved for 40 years before retiring. For 20 of those years, he also served as a part of the EMT team with The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Robert loved the City of Macon, and also served as an Event Coordinator working at the City Auditorium, Centraplex, The Grand Opera House, Henderson Stadium, and Atrium Health Amphitheater. Through his work, he touched many lives.
Robert was a man of faith and courage, accepting Jesus Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Greater Bellevue Baptist Church. Every night he would pray on his knees before going to sleep. When he would say his grace before eating, he would ask God to forgive us for our sins, giving all thanks to God for everything. He was called home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Jones, of Atlanta, GA, his mother, Dora Mae Howard, of Macon, GA and his sister, Joyce Ann Brown, of Macon, GA. He was a warrior, leaving his legacy of faith to be cherished by his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Rev. Ida R. McClain, and his children Robiniqueka
