Rebecca Ann Thomas Gore was born in Macon, Georgia on June 13, 1933. Rebecca was the youngest of nine children born to the late John E. Thomas and Bessie Wade Thomas. She is the last of the Thomas family as all her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
Bellevue Baptist Church has always been her family’s home church she accepted Christ at the age of 14. Rebecca was educated through the Bibb County Public School system where she graduated from Hudson High School in 1950. Rebecca later married Aubrey “Breedy” Gore and had four daughters. She was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church and was a member of the Joy Club Ministry, the Pastor Aide Club Ministry, the Senior Usher Board and she played piano for the choir.
She was employed at Holiday Inn, Inland Container, and American Standard. Rebecca worked the polls and was very active in voters’ registration drives. After the death of her husband in 1995, years later she met her friend and companion, Frank Austin who preceded her in death in 2023. Rebecca enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, walking, taking care of her plants, watching tennis, the stories, and feeding the neighborhood cats!
Rebecca touched so many lives in her 91 years and was called home Friday, February 14, 2025, Valentine’s Day: truly the heart of her family!
She leaves behind to cherish her legacy her daughters, Velma Gore Albert (Ronald) of Locust Grove, Georgia and Mary Ann Gore, Audrey (Pat) Gore and Phylis Gore Hoskins of Macon, Georgia. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Adrienne Albert Furlow of Ackworth, Georgia, Candace Albert of Kennesaw, Georgia, Roneika (Corey) Campbell of Brooklyn, New York, V. RaJeanna albert of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DeJon Scott, Derrick Roney and D’Andralyn (Danyelle) Scott all of Macon, Georgia, Alfye Rebecca Gore of Macon, Georgia, Audra Weston of Kennesaw, Georgia, Bambi Hoskins Smith (deceased) and Neval Dexter Hoskins of Macon, Georgia. Her legacy continues through her eight great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special mention of her cousin, Lauvenia (Key) Newell of Brooklyn, New York who she discussed the stories with every single day during the week!
