Ransom Jones Jr., affectionately known to many as "Lil Man," passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on February 19, 1967, in Macon, Georgia, Ransom was a beloved son, brother, partner, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought rhythm, laughter, and love to everyone around him.
A proud graduate of Bibb County Public Schools, Ransom followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Solomon Mays Sr., becoming a second-generation mechanic. One of his greatest joys was working side by side with his grandfather at the auto shop, where he learned the trade, shared stories, and built a bond that shaped him for life. His hands were skilled, his mind sharp, and his work ethic unwavering-qualities he carried both in his craft and in his relationships. Whether he was fixing cars, figuring out life's twists and turns, or simply lending a hand, Ransom approached it all with grit, grace, and a readiness to offer a fix or share a story under the hood.
But Lil Man wasn't just known for what he did-he will be remembered for how he moved through the world. A true human beat box, he had a gift for creating sounds and rhythms with his mouth, turning ordinary moments into a soundtrack uniquely his own. Whether in quiet moments or lively gatherings, his spontaneous beatboxing reminded us that in a world full of noise, he marched to the beat of his own drum-living authentically and unapologetically.
He had a deep love for family and food-never turning down a good meal or a good time. For over 20 years, he shared an unbreakable bond with his life partner, Tan. He was a proud and loving grandfather, affectionately known as "Pop Pop" by the little ones who adored him. Ransom is survived by his devoted mother, Mary Ann Jones; his loyal brother, Deastro Baker, who stood by him through life's highs and lows; his beloved life partner, Tangela Hill; grandchildren who brought him endless joy; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ransom Jones Sr.
Ransom "Lil Man" Jones Jr. lived life on his terms-with soul, humor, heart, and a rhythm all his own. His spirit lives on in every beat, every laugh, and every loving memory shared by those he touched.
