Ralph Bentley was born on June 23, 1953, to the late Miss Cleonia Bentley. He was the youngest of five siblings: Cloud Bentley, Milton Bentley, Leroy Bentley, and Margie Darrell Mathews. Growing up in a close-knit family, Ralph was deeply cherished by his brothers and sister. His warm heart, kind nature, and gentle spirit made him a beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend.
At an early age, Ralph gave his life to Christ and became a dedicated member of Springhill Baptist Church. He was a faithful servant in the church choir for many years, sharing his love for music and worship with the congregation. Ralph found joy in serving the Lord and remained an active member of the church throughout his life, inspiring others with his devotion and example.
Ralph pursued higher education at Fort Valley State College, where he enrolled in the Business Degree program. His heart for helping others led him to a lifelong career in education, specifically working with students with disabilities. He served in Macon, Georgia, where he dedicated countless years to teaching, guiding, and uplifting students who needed extra support. His patience and understanding left a lasting impression on every life he touched.
Even after retirement, Ralph remained committed to assisting students and stayed involved in mentoring those with learning difficulties. He developed lasting friendships with many in his community, including Reverend and Mrs. Hamilton, Reverend Mathew Raines, Robert Raines, and Morris Hollingshed and Mr. and Mrs. McClain. His impact reached far beyond the classroom and the church walls—his presence and counsel were valued by all who knew him.
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, Ralph departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his beloved sibling, Cloud Bentley. Ralph leaves to cherish his memories by his siblings, Milton (Ann) Bentley, Leroy (Tommie) Bentley, Margie Darnell (Charlie) Mathews; one aunt, Doris Collier of Detroit, Michigan; first cousins, Janice Harris, Audrey Slaughter, Beverly James and Gregory Walker.
