Rachel Haslem Obituary

Rachel Lynn Haslem was born October 19, 1988, to the parents of Sylvia Davis Haslem and Frank Gene Haslem.  She entered eternal rest after a courageous battle with Type 1 Diabetes, a condition she faced with strength and resilience.

Rachel was educated in Bibb County Public Schools.  She attended Cynthia Weir, Ballard Hudson and graduated from Rutland High School.  She played basketball and was a member of the French Club.  Her passion for learning and helping others led her to further her education at Virginia Tech and Central Georgia Tech, where she studied to become a Surgical Technician. Rachel had a deep-seated love for aiding those with medical conditions, always offering compassion and kindness to those in need.

She loved adventures.  She enjoyed family outings and travel.  One of her proudest moments was working as a volunteer with her mom on C.J. Ellis political campaign.

Rachel worked several jobs including crossing guard for Bibb County Board of Education.

At an early age, Rachel joined Greater Overcoming Church of God.  Later she joined Victory Deliverance Church and finally Greater Word of Deliverance in Perry, Georgia.

She leaves to mourn her mother, Sylvia Davis Haslem; father, Frank Gene Haslem; brother, Joshua Franklin Haslem; children, Xavier Antonio Jackson, Aaliyah Richelle Haslem and Madison Rose Haslem; half sibling, Shaunte Jones (Johnny), Johnathan Haslem (Debbie), Lavonia Thomas and Herschel Haslem and aunts, Wanda Moore, Eunice Johnson, Julia Brown and Debra Haslem; cousins, Shantia Johnson, Adajah M. Jones, Nathaniel Haslem and LaShana Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and dear friends. Rachel’s kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
