Pastor Roland Stroud, son of Mr. William and Mrs. Addie Kate Stroud began his earthly journey on February 10, 1949 in Macon, Georgia. He received his education through the Bibb County Public School system attending Unionville Elementary and Ballard Hudson High Schools.
Pastor Stroud was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Mae Helen Paris Willis on August 15, 1992. From this union a blended family of six sons and three daughters was formed.
At an early age, Mr. Stroud joined Center Hill Baptist Church, later moving his membership to Ash Street Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop C.J. Hicks. He subsequently was ordained and licensed as a Minister and Elder before being ordained as Pastor by Bishop Robert Thomas at the Power of the Worship Center.
Pastor Stroud was a dedicated employee in multiple fields retiring in 2011 as a transit driver for Macon Transit Authority. During his work tenure, he was awarded employee of the quarter, employee of the year. He also received the Mayoral Award from Mayor C. Jack Ellis and the city of Macon. After retirement, he worked effectively and actively for Bentley and Sons Funeral Home until his health failed. In addition, he authored and published his first book, “The Unknown Pastor” in October 2023.
For the years, to months and 15 days, Pastor Stroud was ours, the role as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend will forever be embodied in our hearts. This earthly journey closed on Monday, August 25, 2025, when Pastor Roland Stroud answered the Heavenly Father’s summons. Other than his parents, Pastor Stroud was preceded in death by all five siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mrs. Mae Helen Stroud; children, Ms. Kimberly Davis, Mr. Derrick (Melinda) Fawling, Ms. Chonda Dunn, Mr. Roland L. (Nakia) Stroud, Mr. Anthony (Anjenett) Fawling, Mr. John (Helena) Barton, Mr. Robert Thomas, Mr. Carlton (Alexia) Thomas and Mr. Brian (Sonya) Wilson; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
