Oliver C. Jefferson

Reflection of Life

Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Clarence Jefferson, affectionately called, "Uncle Buddy" was born in Macon, GA, February 25*h, 1939, to the late Aaron and Mattie Jefferson. He was the youngest of seven children. Lt. Col. Oliver Jefferson was preceded in death by all his siblings: Paul (Shirley) Jefferson, Aaron (Ann) Jefferson Jr., James (Harvetta) Jefferson, Myrtus Lavar, Dorothy (Charles)
Blassingame, Annie Mae (Willie) Kendrick. He was also preceded in death by his first and second wife, Brigetta, and Jacqueline (Jackie) Jefferson.

Lt. Col. Oliver Jefferson was educated in the Bibb Co School System, and a graduate of Mercer University. He enlisted in the United States Army climbing the Ranks to Lieutenant Colonel. He was the recipient of several Honors that include:
National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, two Over Seas Bars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (Korea), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and an Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. Upon his Retirement from the United States Army Lt. Col Oliver Jefferson was employed as an Insurance Agent with Monumental Life Insurance and Home Security Life.

Until his health declined, Lt. Col. Oliver Jeffeson was a Faithful Member of the Stubbs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He served as an Usher, the President of the Senior Usher Ministry, a Sunday School Teacher, and as the Church Treasurer of the Finance Ministry.

Lt. Col. Oliver Jefferson leaves to cherish his memory a Host of Nieces and Nephews of several generations. His neighbors (as Family) of 40 plus years, Mrs.
Geraldine Pope and Family, Mrs. Thelma Timley and Mr. Raymond Timley. Three devoted Caretakers, his niece Arsenia (Tracy) Bridges, his nephew, Norman Kendrick and Mrs. Gina James of Courageous Home Care.
