Mother Geraldine Cotton Obituary

On March 26, 1945, our leader and love, Chief Overseer Dr. Geraldine Vaugin Robinson Cotton was born in Peach County Georgia to the late Ulysses Vaughn Robinson Sr. & Marie Howell Robinson Gibson. In 1963, she graduated from H.A. Hunt High School in Fort Valley, GA and then continued her education as a Business Major at Crandall College in Macon, GA.

Lovingly admired and revered as Mother Cotton, she served alongside her loving husband and spiritual leader, Bishop John L. Cotton. Serving together in life, love, ministry, and business, they were pioneers within the community as light and love. Their restaurant "Saint Cotton Southern Fried Chicken" was a common meeting place for food, laughter, and community. Her life of ministry was embodied by her example of being a Godly woman and an adopted mother to many who needed it. She gracefully served as the National Supervisor of the Overcoming Churches of God Faith Temple Inc. She was also a woman of style. Her signature hats and high church fashion was a staple at all church gatherings. Shortly before the early transition of Bishop John L. Cotton, Mother Geraldine R. Cotton would be trusted to carry out the work of ministry as she was installed as the pastor and overseer of the Greater Overcoming Church of God Faith Temple Inc.

On Saturday, February 3, 2024, heaven welcomed home its soldier from labor on earth, as Overseer Cotton peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm into eternal glory. Left to cherish her loving memories are her children: Pastor Shalandria Broach and Pamelyn Duncan; her grandchildren: Jodon Lavender, Jr., LiPaige Holt, Braxton Owens, Chaseton Broach, Derrius Duncan, and Joshua Duncan; siblings: Charles Peter Gibson Jr. (Felecia Gibson), and Penny Penelaphia Gibson Rumph; and a loving bundle of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

As a wife, mother, sister, friend, pastor, leader and general in the faith, the legacy of Overseer Geraldine R. Cotton will ring within the earth for generations to come.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughis of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11
