Michael Wayne Hike was born on March 23, 1962, in Macon, Georgia, to Clarence Hike Sr. and Lina Mae Hike. A proud graduate of Southwest High School, Michael brought strength, humor, and generosity into every part of his life.
He began serving early as an usher at Magnolia Baptist Church and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, earning the Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon for his dedication. After his service, Michael spent 18 years with the Macon Police Department, where he was known for his integrity and compassion.
As the patriarch and heart of the Hike family, Michael's humor and kindness defined him. He never met a stranger and was always ready to give, especially to his family. His love for gatherings, road trips, and Sunday dinners was shared with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Michael shared a deep bond with his fiancée, Trina Sumerlin. Their love and partnership inspired all who knew them.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Claude Eugene and Phebe Walden, Henry and Hattie Hike; his parents Clarence Sr. and Lina Mae Hike; and siblings Samuel Hike, Philip Hike, Cedric Hike, Phebe H. Jones, Delores H. Danielly, and Angela H. Rozier.
Michael is survived by his fiancée, Trina; siblings Clarence Hike Jr. (Ilene), Linda Sparks, and Janice Smith; many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and a wide circle of loved ones. His legacy of laughter, service, and love lives on.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." (Matthew 25:35)
