Melvin Odom, Jr. was born on October 4, 1964, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Melvin Odom, Sr. and Betty Lowe Odom. He was the eldest of two children.
Melvin was a proud graduate of Southwest High School. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served for over 20 years. As a retired veteran, he earned numerous medals and accolades in recognition of his service and dedication.
He was a devoted Baptist and a former member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, where he served faithfully. He was known for his kind heart, strong faith, and willingness to help others whenever he could.
Those he leaves to cherish his legacy include his loving wife of 42 years, Angela Howard Odom; sons, Melvin (Amber) Odom III and Melvin Lamont (Shenika) Ford; daughter, Na’Kesh (Joseph) Odom; and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Robert Odom; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Cummings; brother-in-law, Michael Cummings; devoted aunt, Juanita Jackson; devoted uncle, James Smith; devoted nephews, Marcus West and Darius Cummings; and a host of other nephews and nieces.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in all who knew him.
