Maurice Butts

Maurice Butts was born on April 4, 1973, in Fort Hood, Texas, to Johnny Will Butts, Sr. and Sara R. Butts. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1991. Maurice worked various jobs, but concrete graphic design was his specialty.

Maurice was known to be athletic and very competitive in his youth. He played soccer, football, basketball, and baseball. Maurice was well known and loved by everyone he encountered, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved children and was excited about meeting and witnessing the birth of his first granddaughter, Ta’Shyla Lamari, in September of this year.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Maurice was called home. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Artis and Fannie Mae Daniel and Walton and Grace Butts; and a brother, Christopher Hearn.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents; his children: Shumaria Taira Butts, of Macon; Jamarion Sa’Mir Solomon, of Warner Robins; his siblings: Ronnie (Dawn) Daniel, of Sand Lake, New York; Johnny (Shonta) Butts, of Brunswick, Georgia; Nichole (Michael) Womack, of Jonesboro, Georgia; four uncles: Artis (Beverly) Daniel, of Ellenwood, Georgia; Jerry Daniel, Terry Daniel, and Melvin Daniel, of Macon, Georgia; one aunt: Joan Gresham, of Macon; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
