Mary Maggie Bentley Lucas was born on June 1, 1939 to the parentage of the late Wilie B. and Mary Lizzie Bentley in Roberta, Georgia.
At an early age, Mary joined Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend M.C. Fields. She during this time she became a member of the church choir.
She was a graduate of the Crawford County Training School - Class of 1957. Following graduation, Mary worked in a physician's office for many years. She was also employed by the Bibb County School System as a cafeteria worker for many years. Later, Mary became a Certified Nursing Assistant and utilized her roll at multiple healthcare facilities in the Bibb County area.
On December 30, 1957 - Mary joined in holy matrimony to Mr. John E. Lucas and to their union five children were born.
Peacefully on Saturday morning, February 15, 2025; Mary transitioned from this life to be with her Lord and Savior: She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. and Mary Lizzie Bentley; her husband, John E. Lucas; five brothers, Brady Bentley, Willie E. Bentley, Thomas Bentley, Clinton Bentley, and Johnny F. Bentley; son, Jerome Lucas; grandson, LaTroy Davis; and two great grandsons, Jahfari Bullard and Silas Williams.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories; four children; Mable Samples, Linda - Lucas, John Lucas, Jr, and Gwen (Willie) Millens; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Bentley and Freddic Roy (Sylvia) Bentley; one sister, Evelyn Williams; sisters-in-lovc, Wilhemina Benticy and Dorothy Yatcs; and a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
