Mary Elizabeth "Pie" James

Mary Elizabeth "Pie" James, of Macon, Georgia, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest, embraced by God's love and the prayers of her family. Though her earthly journey has ended, Mary's spirit remains beautifully alive in the hearts of all who were blessed to love her and know her.

Born on June 9, 1938, in Macon, Georgia, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Sharper and Claudia James. She attended Ballard Hudson and later pursued a career in cosmetology, a profession that allowed her to share not only her talent, but also her warmth, conversation, and care with countless people over the years.

Mary was known for her kindness, gentle strength, sense of humor, & grace. She carried a calm and comforting presence that made others feel seen, supported, and loved. Her life was a reflection of quiet faith, resilience, and a heart that welcomed everyone who crossed her path. She exhibited reverence in life & served as a devoted usher for the Lord.

She found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. She cherished the camaraderie and lighthearted fun of entertainment outings, softball, and games of chance, enjoying the fellowship and laughter that came with them. These moments brought her delight and gave her opportunities to connect with loved ones in her special, spirited way.

Mary is lovingly survived by her children - Lisa Hart, Gesila James, & Osgood Maurice "Pete" James; her siblings - Richard (Barbara) James, Marvin (Gwendolyn) James, and Rosalin James; her grandchildren - Sheniqua Randall, Taressa James, Rayburn Pierce, Jasmine James, Kemisha James, Quintedra James, Maurice James, Samiyah Roberts, Asha James, & Yasmine James; and her goddaughter, Keresa Jamese Taylor.  She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren (16), extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her deeply.

She is preceded in death by her life partner, Johnny Louis Dunn, Jr., and her siblings Mildred Mackissick, Ruby James, Robert "Bo" James, Shirley Mason, Leroy James, Carolyn Walker, Evelyn Bell, & Charlie James. Though their absence was felt during her time on earth, we trust that their reunion in God's heavenly kingdom is now complete.

As we honor Mary's life, we hold close the comfort of knowing she is resting safely in the Lord's arms-whole, at peace, and surrounded by eternal light. Her legacy of love will continue to guide and uplift her family for generations to come.
