Major Henry Finney Jr. was born on November 26, 1952 to the parentage of the late Major Henry Finney Sr. and Hattie Lewis in Macon, GA. He attended the Bibb County Public School system for his general education. Major continued his education in Baltimore, Maryland where he pursued an Associates Degree in General Studies. Major served faithfully in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge. As an entrepreneur, he was a proud owner operator with MF Finney Trucking Company for 50 years.
Major loved people and people loved him, especially children. He was a faithful member of Heritage of Houston where he loved to sing and play the saxophone.
Major is survived by his wife Brigitte Laverne Finney, former wife Yvette Stokes-Finney with whom he shared four children Paschasca Finney-Chilson (Devon), Major Henry Finney III, lisha Finney-Howard (James), and Ryan Finney. Major also embraced Brigittes children Daniel Prescod (Jessica), David Prescod, and Tiffany Holloway (Darrien) as his own. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Alice Finney and Patricia Finney-Johnson. He leaves to mourn his passing his two surviving sisters Jeanette Finney and Shirley Finney, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
