Mrs. Lula Pearl Bentley Sanders was born July 14th, 1938, the daughter of the late Jack and Lula C. Bentley in Crawford County, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Crawford County Public Schools. Lula Pearl was a lifelong member of Springhill Baptist Church in Crawford County, Georgia. From her teenage years, she was a faithful member of the Springhill Senior Choir.
On April 18, 1959, Lula Pearl was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. L. C. Sanders and from this union, 2 children were born.
Lula Pearl never met a stranger. Her friendly demeanor and willingness to help others contributed to her successful career at Lerner’s and Burlington department stores. At the Medical Center of Central Georgia and in private housekeeping, she was well-loved by colleagues and all those she took care of due to her welcoming and sunny personality.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Sanders, and four siblings, Andrew (Son) Bentley, Emma D. Johnson, Horace Bentley, and Annie Margaret Bailey Bentley.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her beloved children, Diane Sanders and Steven Sanders (Tamika). Her joy and pride was multiplied three times over by her granddaughters, whom she showered with love. To her eldest granddaughter, Dr. Aukeya M. Freeman, she is “Grandma”. To her youngest two granddaughters, Daryn M. Sanders, Skylar Riedler (Preston), and her great-grandson, Fitzgerald Joseph Riedler, she is “Mama Pearl”.
Lula Pearl is survived by her two sisters, Mary Dugger and Katie Larkins. The trio were truly best friends. Their sisterly bond and unwavering love for each other is undeniable. They attended church, went out to eat, and shopped together. Just being in each other’s presence brought them so much joy. They were affectionately known as “The Golden Girls”.
Aunt Pearl will also be missed by a host of nieces and nephews.
Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loving family and friends.
