Lt. Willie Purcell, Jr. Obituary
Wllie B. Purcell, Jr. was born on August 4, 1966, in Macon, Georgia to the parentage of the late Deacon Willie and Johnnie Purcell.
Raised on the south side of Macon, Willie attended Southwest High School and was a member of the Southwest Patriots marching band. After obtaining his high school diploma in 1984, Willie enlisted in the United States Air Force. Succeeding his military term, he became a deputy with the Bibb County Sheriff department where he later attained the rank of Sergeant and then Lieutenant.
Willie was a devoted member of Beulahland Bible Church for over 30 years. Within those years he served as a Deacon, head of security, choir director and was one of the founding members of the Beulahland praise team. Known to usher the people of God into worship through song, Willie was a member of the Melodic Voices of Middle Georgia, Ministers of Praise and he was also a recording gospel song composer. His song, “He is God”, was presented and selected by the Gospel Music Workshop of America.
The smooth sound of singing God’s praises at Beulahland, caught the attention and awarded him with his most prized possession, his wife, Barbara Purcell. Willie and Barbara joined in Holy Matrimony on August 30, 1998. Willie was a loving husband who took pride in ensuring that his wife’s smile reflected the everlasting love that he showed her every day. Marrying his wife and blending their families was one of his proudest moments.
In addition to being active in ministry, being a devoted husband and providing security for his community, Willie loved to travel the world. So much so, that he became the owner of Set Apart Travel Agency.
On Monday, February 5, 2024, God sent a final boarding pass for Willie to embark for paradise. In paradise, he will encounter everything that he exemplified-peace, love and worship.
