Louise Jackson Wilson entered into this world 5 minutes after her twin sister, Lucille on June 30th 1929. As the cherished daughter of Dollie Mae Hicks and Onie Flowers, she spent her childhood in Crawford County. She was educated at BS Ingram School in Macon, while growing up with her mother, her twin and her maternal brothers, Willie Frank and James.
At an early age, she, alongside her sister, joined Magnolia Baptist Church in Macon, GA. Later in life, she became a member of Beulah Baptist Church under the tutelage of Rev. Matthew Brown Sr., her beloved brother-in-law, whom she affectionately referred to as “Reb”. She remained a dedicated member, serving on many committees and auxiliaries, until her health failed.
In 1952, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Bennie F. Wilson, whom she loved and cared for until his death on Nov. 28th, 1992. Though she never had children of her own, she found fulfillment in pouring into and helping to raise her Twin’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as their 2nd Mom and Grandmother.
Louise wore many hats over the years. She worked at The Dempsey Hotel in the domestic capacity. She was a seamstress for Burgess Carpets, where she was known for making beautiful drapes. She was a Sitter who provided nurturing care and support to the elderly. And she was a hairstylist, who made sure that every niece she had was braided or pressed weekly. And later, she nourished the children of Annette’s Learning Center, as the Head Cook.
On September 27th, 2025, at 5:50, “Auntie Mat” left to join her beloved twin “Cille”; her husband, Bennie, brother in law, “Reb”, and maternal nephews, Frank Brown Sr. and Derrick Brown, whom she loved like her own.
She leaves to revere her precious memories, her nieces and nephews, who were like her children, Matthew (Tracy) Brown Jr., Mary (Otha) Everett, Dollie Brown, Brenda (Nathaniel) Hodges, Lois Brown( Frank) of Warner Robins, GA., Annette Parker, and Delores Baker. She was especially blessed by the tender care of her niece, Margaret Flagg, and her compassionately attentive nephew Michael Brown and his spouse Beverly.
She also leaves a sister and brothers, Wallace (Mary) Flowers of Reynolds GA, Horace (Yvonne) Flowers of Cleveland,Ohio, Charles (Elaine)Flowers of Wayne, Michigan, Roger (Bobbie) Flowers of Albany, GA, and Gloria (Wilbur)McAfee of Roberta, GA, Margie (William) Flowers of Bedford Heights, Ohio, and a host of great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, great great great nieces and nephews and extended family.
In her 96 vibrant years, she painted the world with her laughter, wisdom, and undeniable sass. A true force of nature, she embraced life with an exuberance that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know her. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable journey, we remember her not just for the years she lived, but for the countless memories she created from Georgia to Philadelphia and back, the love she shared, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. She may have departed from this world, but her spirit will continue to dance through our lives, reminding us to live boldly, love fiercely, and always add a splash of color to everything we do. Rest in peace Mat; you will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
