Louis L. Coley was born on October 26, 1930, in Peach County, Georgia, to the late Lillia and Moses Coley. He was a man who was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. Throughout his life, Mr. Coley built meaningful relationships and left a lasting impression through his kindness, wisdom, and willingness to help others. He was known as a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a steady presence in the lives of those around him.
Mr. Coley proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and received an Honorable Discharge on October 14, 1959. He later retired from Robins Air Force Base, where he worked in Heavy Equipment Support and Aircraft Maintenance, demonstrating strong work ethic and dedication throughout his career. He furthered his education by attending vocational school, where he earned a diploma in carpentry and masonry. A skilled tradesman with a sharp business mind, Mr. Coley possessed extensive knowledge of small business operations and took pride in sharing his skills and experience with others, always encouraging growth and professionalism.
A man of faith and service, Mr. Coley was a devoted Deacon at First Baptist Church in Byron, Georgia, where he faithfully served his church family with humility and love. He was also a proud member of Prince Hall Lodge #143 in Powersville, Georgia, where he was honored as a “Gold Grand Member.” Mr. Coley’s life was marked by service—to God, to his country, to his community, and to his family. His legacy of faith, hard work, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, Louis departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elestine Coley-Hick.
He leaves behind two children, Ilene Martin and Louis L. (Sandra) Coley, Jr.; three siblings, Annie Kate Mitchell, Grace Coley and Richmond Coley and a host of nieces and nephews; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
