Lillie Austin Obituary

Lillie Mae (Davis) Austin was born on December 3, 1937, to the parentage of the late George Green, Sr. and Dannie Mae (Davis) Green.  Known for her warm spirit and gentle heart, Lillie Mae was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her presence brought comfort and joy to her family, friends, and community, and her memory will forever remain cherished in their hearts.

Lillie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Clifford Austin, Jr., and from their loving union six children were born. Their marriage stood as a true testament to devotion, perseverance, and enduring partnership. She was a devoted and longtime member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and lived out her Christian values with grace and consistency.

She received her education in Monroe County and was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Lillie Mae was employed at Bolingreen Health and Rehabilitation and later worked for many years at the Academy for the Blind, where she touched countless lives through her compassion and commitment.

Lillie Mae departed this life on Friday, January 9, 2026.  She preceded in death by her parents, George and Dannie Mae Green; her husband, Clifford Austin, Jr.; son, Clifford Austin III; sisters, Betty Pennington, Priscilla Rainey, Virginia Green; three brothers, Albert Green, Clint Green and George Green and grandchild, Shamaya Austin.

Lillie Mae Austin leaves to cherish her five daughters, Cherry Walker, Alberta Austin, Chris Austin Chambliss, Debbie (Mike) Parker, Alesia (Johnnie) Moore; a brother, Robert Green of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Alicia Austin; brother-in-law, Melvin Rainey; twelve grandchildren, JoAnn (Willie) Lowe, Jermaine (Marissa) Walker, Tracy (Jeffery) Alexander, Carlos Austin, Meco Richardson, Tonya Chambliss, Demario (Shameeka) Parker, Boris Austin, Demarcus (Jasmine) Moore, Lashonda Lewis and Kanerica Moore and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
