Leroy Jackson was born on May 8, 1943, to the loving parentage of Willie James, Sr., and Katie Jackson. He was raised in Twiggs County, Georgia, where he attended and graduated from the Twiggs County Public Schools. Leroy’s commitment to learning and self-improvement set the foundation for his future endeavors. His childhood was marked by a strong sense of community and faith, leading him to join Higgsville Baptist Church at an early age.
Leroy dedicated his professional career to serving others through his work with the Bibb County Board of Education, from which he retired after years of diligent service. Beyond his career, Leroy was deeply loved by his family and friends, who admired his warm heart and unwavering dedication to those he cared about. His presence brought joy to gatherings, and his wise counsel was sought after by many.
As a family man, Leroy’s love knew no bounds. He cherished his children, three sons, Ronald (Sabrina) Brown, Donald (Jennifer) Brown, and Derrick (Annette) Jackson; two daughters, Veronica (Wayne) Ross, and Beronica (Stanford) Ellis. He was also a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Leroy’s nieces and nephews, along with his sister, Ms. Frances Jenkins, held a special place in his heart, one sister-in-law, Millie Jackson. and a devoted friend, Ms. Gloria Brown, was a constant source of companionship and support.
On December 27, 2024, Leroy entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. Preceded in death by his son, Royce Brown, he now joins him in peace. Leroy’s passing is deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and church community. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain a guiding light for those he left behind.
