Leon Simmons Jr., affectionately known as "Shay Boy," was born July 15, 1975 to Leon and Juanita Simmons in Macon, Georgia, where he lived his entire life. He received his education from Central High School and went on to become a dedicated worker at Southern Forest Industries. Leon accepted the Lord into his life and became a proud member of the Glorious Hope Baptist Church family. He was known for his exceptional talents and skills, truly gifted with his hands and capable of accomplishing remarkable things.
Leon was a nature enthusiast from an early age. He had a deep love for drawing, painting, and home construction, and he was a passionate fisherman, spending countless hours by the water, connecting with nature and honing his craft. His love for the outdoors and creativity were a defining part of who he was, bringing joy and inspiration to those around him.
Leon was a devoted father to Leon (Zachur) Simmons, Deandre Goolsby, and Arleon Simmons. His children were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. As a brother, Leon was deeply loved by his siblings, Shannon (Michael) Barnes, Reoche (Jerry) Barfield, and Mace (Ted) Williams. His bond with them was unshakable, and he adored his nieces and nephews, who felt the warmth of his love and affection.
He also leaves behind his loving parents, Juanita Simmons and Leon (Ouida) Simmons Sr., who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Leon’s life was a testament to love, faith, and hard work, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Leon will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his incredible talents, and the love he poured into his family and friends. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be a treasure for all who knew him.
