Lawanna Smith Obituary

Lawanna Johnson-Smith was the daughter of Frank Johnson and Christine Ballard and was born on March 22, 1952 in Macon, Georgia. She was a loving wife to Alfred Smith, Sr. and a patient mother to three handsome sons. She attended Lanier High School.

In her younger years she always wanted to be a model. She worked for the Board of Education for 25 years where she retired. After retirement, she spent a lot of her time shopping with her sisters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lawanna was a member of Greater Little Rock Baptist Church, where she gave her life to Christ.

She was full of life even on her bad days. Her energy could fill the room. She was always willing to assist and never said ‘No’. Lawanna was a true and loyal vessel to her family! Even though she had three boys, her beautiful spirit allowed her to be a mother to all!

On January 9, 2024, God called his angel home and she passed away peacefully at home. Lawanna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Johnson and Christine Ballard; a devoted son, Alfred Smith, Jr.; sisters, Mary Braddy and Luella Pleas and brothers, Andrew Johnson Jr. and Johnny Johnson.

Those left to celebrate her wonderful legacy are: her sons, Cedric (Nakina) Johnson Sr. and Tremain (Derica) Smith; grandchildren, Ja’Lisa(Dawit) Johnson-Narcisse, Cedric Johnson Jr, Shaquille Anderson, Marley Smith, DeAngelis (Tiffany) Prather, Dedric Johnson, Nieman Johnson, Nolan Johnson, Tatyana Steele, Ivuntay Hester, Katlyn Johnson, Devin Price, Cheyenne Duncan.  She also leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Melinda Ballard, Debra Simmons, Sandra Hardy and Robert Simmons III; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.

Her two favorite sayings, “See You Later” & “I Love You”
