LaPorsha S. Ellis, the daughter of Chiquita M. Thomas was born August 18, 1992. She attended schools in Georgia and was a graduate of Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. She attended Central Georgia Technical College where she earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She decided to continue her education earning a Bachelor Degree from Grand Canyon University in Business Management and a Masters in Leadership. LaPorsha worked for Childcare Network for 10 years and went on to work for the Bibb County School System. She continued her journey at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth doing what she loved most, which was working with children. She could talk for hours about the children with love and compassion.
LaPorsha loved the holidays. She always looked forward to spending Halloween with her son. On Thanksgiving, she would fellowship with the family and every Christmas she and her son would spend quality time together making gingerbread houses. Although these rituals may seem small, she took pride in being a part of something that was so special to her. She was simple and could make a little go a long way. She had so many talents. These are the things that made her so special.
LaPorsha was preceded in death by her uncles, Gerald L. Dixon and Reginald T. Dixon and her cousins, Gabriella Dixon and Caretta Hall. She leaves behind her beloved son, Kayden A. Ellis whom she loved so much. It was an honor for her to be this little boy’s mother. She also leaves behind her mother, Chiquita M. Thomas; her siblings, Eric D. Goolsby, Jr. and Shakierra S. Ellis; grandmother, Annie L. Ellis; uncles, Michael D. Harper and Tony L. Ellis; aunts, Shunika Ellis and Betty Brown as well as a host of cousins and friends to cherish her memory.
She will certainly be missed and our hearts are heavy without her presence. I pray that God grant us strength to get through the heartache.
