Johnny C. Fountain, affectionately known as “ Sonny Man” to his family and friends, was born on January 6, 1946 in Kathleen, GA to the parentage of Bennie Frank Fountain and Mary Goolsby, who preceded him in death. After much love and laughter, heartache and pain, the Lord called him home to Glory on January 28, 2025.
He was educated in the Houston County School System. In his early adulthood he relocated to Macon, GA where he met his wife, Bessie Lee Jackson. Soon after, on September 23, 1966, they were married and later conceived two children, however, this union resulted in a blended family of eight.
Johnny and Bessie rededicated their lives to the Lord in 2007 joining Unionville Missionary Baptist Church (UMBC) under the teaching and preaching of Dr. Mack. Both receiving a “Certificate of Completion” for the required Pastor’s Class for new members.
Johnny worked as a Master Mechanic at Downtown Motors and several other mechanic shops in Macon for most of his time of employment. However, his real passion was when he could use these same skills and knowledge to help his family and friends in keeping their vehicles in top notch condition.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories to not only his wife, Bessie, but also, his six children, Bennie Williams (Significant Other, LaTarsha Smith) Ilene W. Hunter (Fitgerald), Rose M. Linder, Lafayette Fountain (Significant Other, Kendral Fordham), Victoria F. Granville and Akeya Lawson (Joseph); one sister, Mary Williams; three sisters-in-law, Leola Culler, Nelsie Yates (Julius) and Gail Wright; two brothers-in-law, Willie L. Jackson (Susie) and Jerome Jackson (Significant Other, Shanmarie Davis); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny will be sorely missed by all.
