John Gibson, Jr., affectionately known by many as “Gip” was born July 31, 1951 to the late John Gibson, Sr. and Louise Blackmon Gibson.
Gip received his education in the Bibb County School system and worked as an entrepreneur for over 20 years.
More than anything, Gip loved helping others and did it with a smile. He loved to dance and enjoyed eating.
Gip was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Joshua Gibson, who loved his Uncle Gip dearly.
John (Gip) is survived by his wife, Verdell Gibson; daughter, Sherie Gibson; step-son, Ronald Scott; brother, Ronnie (Tammy) Gibson; sister-in-law, Vester (David) Moody-Davis; aunts, Ole Mae Pearson, Sarah Rutledge, Gloria Gibson, Mattie Brooks and Mattie Blackmon; two grandchildren, Jeremy Waller and Jasmine Wynes; four great grandchildren, Jordan Waller, Jay’Ceon Waller, Jamari “Ace” Waller and Jalayiah Wynes; honorary children, Daphne and Sabrina Wilson; one niece, Samaya (Akil) Best; one great niece, Harmony Best and one great nephew, Joshua Best all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; many devoted cousins and a host of relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
