Joe Thomas Battle

Joe Battle was born in Upson County, GA to the proud parents of Mary Liza and Willie J. Battle, Sr. Joe answered his call home to our Lord on Monday, August 21, 2023.

Joe attended public schools in Upson and Crawford Counties in Georgia.

After graduating from school, Joe met and married Sylvia Battle Johnson and to this union two precious children were born and reared.

He began his employment record by becoming employed with B.F. Goodrich and later joined the trucking industry by becoming a log truck driver which was his passion.

When Joe wasn’t working, you could often find Joe reading his Bible. He knew what it meant to be a friend because he truly showed himself as a friend. He never met a stranger, and he was loved by all who came in contact with him. He was a very social person. He had respect for all people and he loved everyone equally. He also enjoyed “riding off a lil’ piece,” visiting others and keeping in touch with them. Quite often he just wanted to see how they were doing.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Liza and Willie J. Battle, Sr. ; three brothers: Nathaniel Battle, Willie J. Battle, Jr. and Wymon Battle.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: his children: Lancy B. Battle (Benetta) and Martez Q. Battle, all of Macon, GA; three beautiful grandchildren: Phasia Chester, Chastity Fuller, and Jekyla Battle; a brother, Emmett Battle (Priscilla); sisters: Lila Mann (Daniel), Dorothy Smith (Jody), Pauline Battle, and Arthea Solomon (Cleveland), and Chris Kendrick, who was like a son to him. Joe also leaves to mourn his passing a host of nieces, nephews, and very special friends.
