Jimmy Roy Temple, the son of the late Augustus and Lula Temple, was born on June 11, 1938, in Macon, Georgia. He attended Ballard Hudson High School and soon after answered the call to serve his country. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army, completing tours in both Korea and Vietnam. His bravery and commitment to duty earned him honors including the Bronze Star and the National Defense Service Medal.
After completing his military service, Jimmy continued to work diligently and honorably in every role he held. He was employed with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan, before returning home to Georgia, where he worked at C&S Bank and later with the Bibb County Public School system. Jimmy believed in hard work, consistency, and doing every job with excellence.
On Sunday, November 23, 2025, Jimmy peacefully departed this earthly life to be with his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John and Richard Temple; his sister, Annie Culpepper; and his daughter, Chelsea LeRoy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Valencia Gooden of Macon, Georgia; his son, Denzel Horton of Atlanta, Georgia; his granddaughter, Charmine Folsom of Tallahassee, Florida; his devoted nieces, Shirley Fields and Barbara Temple both of Macon and Carol Bumbry of Virginia; his devoted nephews, Jeffery and Glenn Temple of Macon; his brother-in-law, Reverend Bobby Joe Culpepper of Detroit, Michigan; dear friends, Joe Hardy and George Brown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Jimmy will be remembered for his generosity, his service, and the love he showed so freely to those around him.
