Ida Bentley Obituary

Ida Shelia Bentley, affectionately known as "Shelia," was born on May 13, 1960 to the late Mr. Anderson Bentley and Adell Hicks Bentley in Montezuma, Georgia. Shelia completed her education at Taylor County High School, where she graduated in 1979.

Shelia exuded warmth and compassion, with a sincere dedication to making everyone feel included. She cherished her family dearly, especially enjoying time with her nieces and nephews. Actively involved in the Reynolds, GA community, Shelia was considered a member of numerous local families.

Among her hobbies were playing Uno, solving word search puzzles, attending Taylor County Vikings basketball games, and traveling. Shelia also found joy in singing and fishing. Her favorite movies included Coming to America, The Color Purple, and The Nutty Professor.

Shelia resided primarily in Reynolds before moving to Dubois, GA, where she made her home with her sister and caregiver, Charlene, and her family. A committed Christian, she faithfully served as an Usher at Ward Chapel Baptist Church in Dubois, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Willie Basby. Shelia was a devoted friend and family member with a strong faith, and on Friday, March 15, 2024, she entered into the presence of God. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers, Calvin "Sonny" and Raymond Bentley, sister, Diane Reynolds, and very devoted friend, Cynthia Andrews.

Shelia leaves a plethora of memories to be cherished by: Five loving siblings, Charlene Simmons (Otis) of Dubois, GA, Anderson Bentley, Jr. (Diane) of Milledgeville, GA, Lenward Bentley of Manchester, GA, Rogers Bentley (Mary) of Reynolds, GA, David Williams of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-laws: Janice Bentley of Lizella, GA and Shirley Bentley of Thomaston, GA; a host of nieces and nephews; uncle: Willie James Bentley (Betty) of Reynolds, GA; aunt: Martha E.

Bentley of Thomaston, GA; a very dear friend, Alleane Stevens, and many cousins and dear friends whom all mourn her passing.
