Howard Simmons was born September 28, 1951 in Macon, Georgia, to Earnestine and Robert Lee Simmons, Sr.
Howard was educated at Ballard Hudson High School and later took up a trade in painting. He married Brenda J. Simmons April 22, 1978.
Howard had a passion for writing songs, playing music, and singing his original songs. In the 1980’s he and his band, Infinity, could be heard on the radio through their songs “I Want You” and “Round and Round We Go.” The first song he wrote was “If You’ve Got God.” Then he went on to create “God Loves You” alongside his wife, Brenda Simmons.
Howard was called home March 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Earnestine Simmons; father, Robert Lee Simmons, Sr.; brothers, Donnie Simmons, Robert L. Simmons, Jr., and Gary Simmons; sisters, Dorothy Simmons and Penny Simmons; grandchild, Tristen Rhodes.
Howard leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Brenda J. Simmons; children, Teresa (David) Vaughn, Vasha (Danika) Simmons, Valasha Simmons-Bell, Vaquasha (Troy) Rhodes, and Rocco Preuss; brother, Lorenzo (Gwen) Simmons; sisters, Raquel (Maurice) Kirkland and Jenny Watson; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Though he has departed this troubled world, his memory, love, faith in God, and music will live on through his family and friends.
