Helen was born on January 4, 1940, in Houston County to the late Ernest and Mary Lee Womack Morgan. She was deeply loved by everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. A gentle spirit with a warm smile, she carried herself with grace and kindness throughout her life. Helen treasured her family, and those who loved her will forever remember her as a source of comfort, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Helen was educated in the Houston County School System. For 48 dedicated years, she served as a domestic engineer for the Berg Family until retiring in 2021. She loved her job wholeheartedly, taking great joy in caring for the family and especially nurturing the babies she grew so attached to over the years. The Berg Family became an extension of her own, and her loyalty, work ethic, and loving presence left a permanent imprint on their lives and hearts.
A faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church, Helen served joyfully on the Usher Board and the Culinary Committee. She cherished her church family, offering support, encouragement, and kindness to her peers and leaders alike. Helen’s favorite pastime was cooking, and she delighted in preparing meals and giving food away to anyone in need. She was married to the late Embery Johnson for 45 years, and together they shared three children—Melvin, Vanessa, and Melanie—who carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin; five brothers, Robert, Timothy, Henry, Levi and Lonnie; three sisters, Dellie, Roslyn and Elizabeth.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Vanessa Fountain and Melanie Johnson; four grandchildren, Sukari (Marquez Ray), Teryl Fountain, Brandon Johnson and India Johnson; ten great grandchildren; one godson, Arthur Jackson; two brothers, Jimmie Lee (Jeanette) Womack and Ernest Womack and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
