Geraldine Scott Obituary

Mrs. Geraldine Scott, lovingly known as Dean, was born September 5, 1926 in Crawford County, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Zollie  and Arrie Jones. She attended church at Springhill Baptist Church, where she gave her heart to the Lord at a very young age.  Her mom believed the scripture that says, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," and Dean applied this same principle to her own household.

She departed this life peacefully at the age of 98 on December 14, 2024.  She was a loving mother full of wisdom, warmth, and a vibrant spirit. Known for her quick wit and unconditional love for  her family.  She lived a life full of great strength and kindness. Dean was married to the love of her life, Cecil Scott (Tat), for an incredible 80 years, who is still alive at the age of 100 years old.  Through sickness and health, in good times and bad, in wealth and poverty, they remained united as they raised a beautiful family. Her love for him stayed constant throughout their life together, until her death.

She was the proud mother of nine children, two of whom preceded her in death, Zollie Davis and Russell Scott.  Seven of whom survive her,  Charles Davis (Janice) of Macon,GA, Cecil Scott Jr. (Bessie) of Detroit, MI; David Scott of Detroit, MI, Polly Cooke of Fenton, MI, Gail Scott of Macon, GA, Gregory Scott (Debra) of Detroit,MI, Nicholas Scott (April) of Macon, GA.

As a mother, sister, and grandmother, Dean had an unmatched ability to make everyone feel loved and valued. Her words of wisdom were always just what was needed. Her home was always open to those in need, she cooked and fed those that were hungry and provided a bed for those that had no where to go.   Those who entered her life as strangers grew to love her and called her “Moma Dean”. Known for her quick wit and unwavering support, she had a unique ability to know exactly what to say in every moment.

She is also survived by her beloved brother, Caleb, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Dean was the matriarch of her family, the glue that held them together, and her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.   This great woman who loved God will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but her spirit will live on in all the great memories she leaves behind.
