On June 2, 2025, George Gibson, Sr. was called by his creator from labor to rest. He had fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
Born on September 21, 1947, to the parentage of the late J. B. Gibson and Queen Elizabeth Gibson, George was educated in Bibb County Public Schools. He attended G. W. Carver Elementary and Ballard-Hudson High School.
George was a member of Greater New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church where he was a devoted deacon and minister of the Gospel. He loved to preach, give advice, and spread the Gospel to everyone he met. He loved to serve within the community by feeding the homeless and mentoring to residents at the Transitional Center in Macon Georgia.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Gibson, and daughter, Laquisa Gibson (Peaches). He leaves to cherish his unforgettable loving memories with his children:
Taqusia Gibson (Punkin), George Gibson Jr. (Anitra), and Christopher Hicks; a devoted brother: Reverend Dr. Fred Gibson; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
