Fred Williams Obituary

Fred Douglas Williams was born on February 15, 1944, to the late Cleo and Bishop Williams in Rosston, Arkansas. He graduated from Oak Grove High School and soon after answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Fred proudly served over twenty years, including during the Vietnam Era, and was a decorated veteran. His commitment to excellence and discipline carried over into his civilian career in communications, where he worked diligently until his retirement from Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fred loved everything about the Army and took great pride in being a soldier. His military career allowed him to travel the world, and Japan quickly became one of his favorite places. Through his travels, he made lifelong friends and left a lasting impression on everyone he met with his humor, wisdom, and strong sense of integrity. In 1994, his journey led him to Roberta, Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Delma Jefferson. With this union they share five daughters and nine grandchildren. Fred was an amazing father and true girl dad.  Being a granddad was a source of great joy for “Papa Fred.”

Fred made his transition on Friday, November 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, honor, and strength. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Delma Williams; his daughters, Thy Lynn Williams-Easter (Marcus), Terri Jones (Quizon), Lakeisha Ivey (John), Tomeico Colbert and Sa’Tricia Colbert; his three grandsons, Terrance, Kimoni and Keiman; his six granddaughters, Kearis, Genesis, Kamore, Justice, Kimora, and Torie; his two brothers, Louis (Susan) Williams and Willie Ray (Lydia) Williams; two brothers-in-law, Emmett Jefferson and James (La’Tricia) Jones and a devoted friend, Chris Hollis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
